As we set off for Crete, it struck me that I hadn’t once looked at where we were going. Adelina had arranged the flights and the first few days of accommodation, and for the first time, I simply went along with it.

While that may sound refreshing, it also highlighted something important: I haven’t truly switched off in quite some time. The realities of self-employment—the uncertainty of income, the persistent imposter syndrome—have made the past two months since returning from Italy some of the most intense yet. We’ve surpassed our financial expectations, but only by working harder than ever. We’ve kept our pricing consistent, prioritising value for money, and everything earned has been reinvested to expand what we can offer our clients.

The decision to launch our photo studio service was a spontaneous one, but we know it opens new opportunities. Our aim is to give clients the flexibility to choose from a wide range of services and tailor them to their specific needs.

Next on the horizon is a significant investment in a new drone, alongside the A2 and A3 CAa certifications. These will enable us to operate heavier drones in tighter spaces, giving us access to greater range, longer flight times, and enhanced camera capabilities.

Beyond that, the direction is less defined. I anticipate a winter season focused on corporate photography, headshots, and brand content, as drone projects tend to quiet down with the weather.

Diversification has been both a necessity and a strategy. While drone work remains my passion, I can’t deny a growing interest in photography—though I may not be quite ready to admit that openly. For now, its back to the beach.
