This was a big one for us. Storm is a brand-new gym, launched by two elite Hyrox athletes, and given my borderline obsession with Hyrox, getting to be part of this felt like a proper pinch-me moment. When our quote got accepted, I went from over the moon to absolutely shitting myself in about 0.2 seconds. But deep down, I knew we could deliver—we just had to.
Originally, we were scheduled to shoot on the Friday before opening… but the gym wasn’t quite ready. Cue more pressure for the Saturday shoot. We arrived at 7am, straight into a first-person-view FPV drone video. Luke, our hero and close friend/photographer, rolled up at 7:30, and the athletes started arriving at 7:45. Cold? Yes. Incredible? Absolutely. Stunning space, top-class coaches, athletes working harder than my brain on a Monday morning—the vibe was electric.
Our job? Capture EVERYTHING. And we did:
Professional team headshots for all coaches and staff.
Interior photography of the new gym, showing off every detail and feature.
Merch shots to highlight Storm’s apparel and gear.
High-energy social media reels and adverts, designed to launch the gym with a bang.
Video interviews with Jez, Sam, and Lee to showcase the story, vision, and passion behind Storm.
Funny Q&As with coaches and PTs, adding personality and authenticity.
Coverage of every workout, every class, every athlete pushing themselves to the limit.
Meeting Jez and Sam was inspiring, and catching up with Lee and the gang felt like coming home. We wrapped Saturday with interviews, then raced back to edit. Group photos were delivered within the hour, and FPV drone footage was online and live on socials in a matter of hours.
Day 2 was just as busy: different workouts, different athletes, same energy. Two cameras running at all times, capturing the classes, the sweat, the smiles, the effort. We finished with interviews with PTs Jess, Tom, and Alex, and honest customer reviews from people leaving the gym. Cold again? Yes. Hard? Absolutely. But as we know, doing hard things is how legends are made.
We’re incredibly grateful to Jez and Sam for trusting us with this launch. Storm Performance Centre is officially live, the content is out there, and we can’t wait for the next shoots. And me? I still love this Hyrox community more than my morning coffee—and that’s saying something.
