17th September: Drone Photography & Football Videography in Redditch | Leon Barnett Academy at Redditch United

On September 17th, our team had the privilege of visiting Redditch United Football Club to meet former Premier League defender Leon Barnett. Leon now leads a football academy in Bedfordshire, designed for 16–19-year-olds who are pursuing a career in sport after leaving school. The programme combines academic study through a BTEC in Sport with professional football coaching delivered by Leon and his team.

Each week, the academy side competes in the Future Lions League Championship South, and we were there to provide full sports photography and videography coverage of their opening match of the season against Redditch United Future. Using our cameras and drone technology, we captured every stage of the day—from the players’ arrival and pre-match warm-ups to the final whistle and post-match celebrations.

The squad secured a 3–1 victory after a hard-fought comeback, despite having only 12 players available. The energy and determination on display made for fantastic sports video highlights and dynamic football action photography, giving the players a professional-quality record of their performance.

For us, this project highlighted the incredible opportunities that academy and college football can offer. Being able to document not only the game but also the wider matchday experience shows the real value of high-quality event videography and drone photography in bringing these moments to life. Providing the players with professional reels and images at a first-class facility like Redditch United felt like a true milestone in showcasing grassroots and academy football.
