Over the past few months, I’ve dived headfirst into networking—a world I never thought I’d enter. I’ve now joined two groups:

Network B2B, where I’ve been a member for a couple of months. This group has been a fantastic introduction to networking and allows me to connect with other professionals, share ideas, and build meaningful relationships.
Shropshire Business Growth Group, which meets bi-weekly on Wednesdays. Unlike my Tuesday morning B2B meet-ups, this group meets in-person, so you get to grab breakfast, chat, and genuinely mix with people.
Here’s what I’ve learned and what I’d advise anyone looking to keep their business moving into 2026:
Show up consistently.Whether it’s Tuesdays with Network B2B or Wednesdays with the Growth Group, consistency builds trust and keeps your business visible.
Focus on relationships, not just sales.Much of the work we’ve had in the past year has come from who we know, not just what we know. Investing time in people pays off long-term.
Support local businesses. If you’re a photographer, videographer, or service provider, think about how you can help others grow. Creating content, sharing strategies, or telling their story doesn’t just help them—it helps you become part of a thriving local business community. Even if that means... doing it for free!
Support local charities. You have the time. You just choose not to. Volunteer, offer your services. Just do good. Good things happen to good people.
Don’t pigeonhole yourself.Even though I present myself as a photographer and videographer, I also help businesses with strategy, planning, and creative content. Being versatile opens more doors than sticking to a single label.
Give without expectation.Networking isn’t about immediate return. Offer help, share expertise, and support your network without expecting instant work in return. Opportunities usually come later—and sometimes in unexpected ways.
Commit, but stay adaptable.Joining two groups is a risk, but committing to show up, contribute, and support others is how you build meaningful business relationships over time.
Bottom line: By joining groups like Network B2B and Shropshire Business Growth Group, showing up consistently, and genuinely supporting local businesses and charities, you’re setting your business up for growth in 2026. Relationships, trust, and visibility will always outlast quick wins.
