Picture the scene. A young Polish personal trainer once told me I was the fattest skinny guy she’d ever seen. Fast forward two years and I’ve completed five Hyrox races, finished a marathon, battled with prediabetes, run a sub-20-minute 5k, and even started coaching Hyrox myself.

Her words that day pushed me to make changes and see how far I could take things. I might have gone a little too far with the whole “bulking” phase (note to self: eating sugar doesn’t count as a strategy), but I’ve since turned things around and found a healthier balance.

What surprised me most wasn’t just the races or the training—it was the communities I’ve become part of along the way. Different clubs, teams, and friendships I would never have discovered otherwise. That’s why, when the chance came to photograph our friends at The Rich Fit Body Bootcamp, I jumped at it.

We went along to the Hybrid Games event in Telford, cameras ready, to capture Rachel and Nicky—two women we’ve grown especially close to. Both have faced challenges, both use fitness as a driving force, and both inspire the people around them.

Watching Nicky cross the finish line and catching that moment on camera… well, let’s just say it wasn’t dust in my eye.

The whole bootcamp team was incredible—pushing limits, stepping out of comfort zones, and showing just how much transformation is possible. It reminded me why I love doing this: documenting real moments, whether it’s through traditional photography or even with aerial shots when we bring in our drone services across the West Midlands. These aren’t just photos—they’re memories, proof of what people are capable of.

Offering photography for communities like this will always be one of my biggest joys. It means more than just taking pictures—it’s about telling stories worth remembering.

And for me? My next chapter is lined up: my first Ultra Marathon on October 3rd. Let’s see just how far we can go.
