Normally, once we wrap up a job with Kings Gym, we pack the car and battle the London traffic before getting stranded somewhere on the M25. But this time we had something different planned. We were booked in to see an old university friend of mine, Shireen.

Shireen Patel Hand Model

Shireen works at Liberty London and had recently stepped in for some hand-modelling work. Naturally, she spotted an opportunity and wanted to properly enter the hand-modelling world—but before that, she needed a strong studio photography portfolio.

Good job we had the portable studio in the boot.

We pulled up at her place in Crystal Palace and got straight to work. Step one: rearrange the living room so we could set up the lights and mini studio. BOSH—DONE.Step two: catch up on life because we hadn’t seen each other since university.Step three: test shots to check lighting, backdrop placement and the overall studio setup.

And then… it was go time.

Full-body portraits, hand-modelling shots, product photography, jewellery details—everything—captured in around 90 minutes using our fully mobile portable studio photography setup. This one felt special. Not just because it’s always great seeing an old friend, but because it showed exactly where our business is heading. 2026 is shaping up to be a huge year for on-location studio photography, bringing professional lighting, backdrops and portrait work directly to clients’ homes or workplaces for maximum convenience.

We packed down, headed home, and—as always—Adelina jumped straight into the edit. Within a few days, Shireen had 54 professionally edited images ready to launch her modelling portfolio and start promoting her services.

After a full day at Kings, this was the perfect way to end our latest London trip—and it reminded us why we love delivering professional studio photography wherever our clients need it.

Plain hand modelling.
